Remedies & Creams
Deluxe Helios 36 Remedy Kit – My favorite starter kit for people getting into homeopathy. The price is right, and you get enough remedies that you will almost always have what you need on hand. My Beginner’s Homeopathy 6-week course teaches all of the remedies in this kit (and then some).
Helios Emergency Kit – If you aren’t ready to dive into getting a full 100 remedy kit (below) or you want something that is handy to throw in your purse to have on hand for emergencies, this is the perfect kit. It includes 18 remedies at 200C potency that you are likely to need in first aid or acute emergency situations.
Top 100 Remedy Kit by Washington Homeopathics – Once you get serious about learning and using homeopathy for your family, the next logical step is to get a kit that includes more remedies. This kit includes 91 of the most commonly used homeopathic remedies in 30C potency as well as 9 of the most needed remedies in a 200C. I recommend this kid for all of my clients who are working with me privately.
Hypericum & Calendula Cream (aka Hypercal) by Helios – The number 1 cream used in my first aid kit. Useful for abrasions and cuts to assist with pain relief and promote healing.
Urtical Cream by Helios – This combination of Urtica and Calendula cream is great for minor burns, urticaria, eczema and other skin eruptions where there is intense itching and burning of the skin.
Cell salts – Cell Salts are a great way to get started with homeopathic remedies for your family or yourself because they are a low potency and there are only 12 to choose from! They can support the body in healing, though the response to the remedy isn’t as dramatic as with a 30C or 200C remedy (such as the ones you can buy in the Remedy Kits listed on this page and on the product page).
The 12 cell salts are: Calc Fluor (#1), Calc Phos (#2), Calc Sulph (#3), Ferrum Phos (#4), Kali Mur (#5), Kali Phos (#6), Kali Sulph (#7), Mag Phos (#8), Nat Mur (#9), Nat Phos (#10), Nat Sulph (#11), Silica (#12). You can also purchase a kit of all 12 Cell Salts (which I recommend, because you save a lot of money that way!) and Bioplasma, a blend of all 12 cell salts to take as daily insurance against mineral deficiency. I recommend purchasing The Biochemic Handbook to learn about how to use cell salts.
Ascorbyl Palmitate – A fat soluble Vitamin C that is helpful where there is suspected brain inflammation such as in Autism, behavioral issues, or Lyme’s disease. I take 1000mg/day, but please check with your physician.
The Complete Homeopathy Handbook by Miranda Castro – this is one of the best books out there on homeopathy for acute care. It’s very complete with a lot of information on each remedy. What I love about it is that it is set up to be a materia medica as well as a repertory – which means you can learn to take acute cases the way a homeopath does, by repertorizing symptoms and then reading the materia medica to make your remedy selection. This is the required textbook for my Beginner’s Homeopathy 6-week course.
The People’s Repertory by Dr. Luc De Schepper – This is a great book for beginners especially, but I find myself using it often even as an experienced homeopath. There are some brilliant drawings in the repertory that help one distinguish between different types of coughs, colds, and flu. The materia medica portion of the book is an easy read that highlights various keynotes or special uses for each remedy. Finally, there are a few remedies represented in this book that are missing from the Complete Homeopathy Handbook, so I find it useful to have both.
Homeopathic Medicine for Infants and Children by Dana Ullman – I like this book for beginners because it is laid out simply and it is easy to understand. For example, when you look up “cough”, it highlights each remedy that may be used for cough, and distinguishes between those remedies with an emphasis on what kind of behaviors you will see from a baby or a child. I find myself referring to this book to double check my prescription especially on less common ailments.
The Science of Homeopathy by George Vithoulkas – This is more advanced reading that I recommend for people who are excited to learn more about homeopathy philosophy. It’s advanced, yet accessible reading. George Vithoulkas is one of the most well respected authors, teachers, and practitioners in all of homeopathy.
The Biochemic Handbook – A simple, easy to understand primer on the biochemic tissue salts.
The Organon of the Medical Art by Samuel Hahnemann, translated by Wenda Brewster O’Reilly – This is a translation of the 6th edition of the Organon, and is the most accessible to modern readers. I highly recommend this book if you really want to learn and understand the philosophy and laws of Homeopathy.
